The Clark County assessor's office is responsible for listing, discovering and valuing all property in the county every 4 years (by law). With township assessors and county staff, your assessment department monitors building permits, new subdivisions, land transfers, maintains records of ownership and tax liability and a multitude of other corresponding functions to accurately establish valuation of county properties. Farm Land and farm buildings are assessed at their contributory value.
Every dollar of property tax remains in the local area to fund county government, schools-colleges, city governments, libraries, park, watershed districts, some cemeteries, your health department and emergency services such as fire and ambulance.
Did you know? One half of the assessor's salary is paid by the State of Illinois upon completion of minimum performance requirements - which have been met for the next year.
